Icon of the Seas arrive at PortMiami

The world's largest passenger cruise ship arrived at PortMiami on January 10, and is set to embark on its maiden voyage on January 27.

Icon of the Seas is the result of decades of work, frequently emphasized by its Miami-based owner, Royal Caribbean International. "There are pieces and parts of everything we've built over the years that you'll find on Icon," said Jay Schneider, Chief Product Innovation Officer of Royal Caribbean, in an interview with the Miami Herald.

Featuring six water slides and other attractions in its adventure-themed park, over 40 restaurants and venues, including two dueling piano bars, three-story townhouses for large families, and a ventilated park with over 33,000 plants, it hopes to attract a wide range of travelers.

Measuring 365 meters in length, the Icon of the Seas has a capacity of 5,610 passengers, weighs over 250,800 gross tons, boasts 2,850 cabins, 18 decks for guests, 7 pools, and a crew of 2,350 members. It is currently the world's largest cruise ship.
