Havila Voyages announced, in a press release, that the christening ceremony of the coastal cruise ship Havila Pollux will be held on Monday 13 May at Bryggen in Bergen, with former Prime Minister Erna Solberg as the ship's godmother.
Havila Pollux was repositioned along the Bergen - Kirkenes - Bergen coastal route in August 2023 and will now finally have its official naming ceremony.
"Bergen is our turnaround port and a very important port for the coastal route. Therefore, we thought it was entirely appropriate to hold the naming ceremony here," says Bent Martini, CEO of Havila Voyages.
"We are proud and happy that our former prime minister was eager to take on the honourable task of being the godmother of Havila Polluce. It is also very special that we have a true Bergen native as godmother. In addition, the Buekorps will be playing on the quayside during the event, which adds an extra touch," says Martini.
Havila Pollux will dock at Bryggen on Sunday 12 May and there will be an open ship for all those who wish to come on board to see the ship up close, or for those who wish to test the on-board catering concept. On the christening day itself, everyone is warmly invited to attend Bryggen's christening event.
"It is a great honour for me to be chosen as godmother of Havila Pollux and, of course, it is even more special when the christening ceremony takes place in Bergen," says Erna Solberg, as a native of Bergen.
